A note on Teacher's day!

Sidney Hook , a prominent New York intellectual and philosopher said " Everyone who remembers his own education remembers teachers, not methods and techniques. The teacher is the heart of the educational system." So rightly the heart and soul of the education system is defined in this quote....
Man is a student throughout his life...., learning is a process that continues infinitely with the capacity that individuals possess.....;and through all these endeavours we invariably remember our teachers who believed in us even when we were a "nobody"... the teachers who not only taught us the prescribed lessons but also imparted soul searching teachings through their own exemplary lives!!!
I am lucky that I had such teachers in my school as well as college life....;now, when I am here in Stockholm ,currently studying swedish language, I 'm happy to admit that I got to know wonderful teachers here too....!To have patience with grown-ups is not an easy task... but they really manage things so efficiently that we have learnt to enjoy learning a new language!!!
May we always be blessed enough to retain our capacity to learn new things.... and if the soul is awakened, there are teachings all around the universe, to follow....;our natural surroundings are such efficient teachers!!!

A note on janmashtami!!!

The lord is born....

I have so many fond memories of janmashtami from my childhood days .... when i would fast the whole day imitating mummy... and by evening lose all patience... ; then , heartily accepted what my papa says...:-"UPWAS" is made up of two words UP + WAS which simply means "sameep was karna"... i.e being closer to ALMIGHTY....!!!! So, fasting is all about being closer to almighty....; with time , it happened so, that people continue with fasting and all , but nearness to GOD vanished.... ;if this element is missing, fasting is not serving the purpose then! Anyways, When I talk about memories , i really miss going to RADHA KRISHNA mandir in my hometown (jamshedpur), particularly on this pious occasion of janmashtami.....I remember, we would go there.... stay till midnight enjoying the geeta path, bhajans, and the"jhankis" with which mandir would be decorated...., there were melas too!!!! Everything would be so great royal and pious!Times have changed... all of us are at different places... but, janmashtami is still celebrated with the same fervour back home!!!Papa still goes to mandir on this day of janmashtami and return after midnight with sore throat after the four hours of continuous "paath"!

And then i remember janmashtami celebrations at our hostels in BHU,Varanasi...... it used to be so special! Whole premises would be decorated with "rangolis", girls would dress as various mythological characters and whole hostel campus would turn into brijdham and vrindavan...."maharas" enacted... "kurukshetra" enacted

lord krishna's childhood enacted .... all this would transform our otherwise dreary hostels to paradise... with bhajans floating in the air!!!!! And ,yes, there was no restriction to get in before 7pm.... we could move around the different campuses to see the celebrations....!

It was really wonderful....

I dont know what I'm going to do here today....

May be I am going to transform the whole environment in my apartment to make it bubble with the joy of lord krishna's birth.... but how...?

May be simply by putting away all the hatred against people and circumstances that is.... lying unconsciously in my heart...; putting an end to all complains that I knowingly or unknowingly harbour....!!!!!!!!!!!! This is not an easy task... so I guess:-

It is going to be a tough day ahead!!!!

Good luck to me!
